Answer to the query
It is recommended to take GST registration directly and does not get involve in VAT/TIN or service tax registration. This is because of the following reasons:
- New VAT registration will take atleast 20 to 30 days which won’t be possible, because GST will be implemented from 1st July and your registration might get struck between the processes.
- VAT/TIN registration requires fixed deposit or a guarantee from existing dealer, hence which is unnecessary blocking of funds, because GST registration does not require any security deposit or guarantee from any existing dealer.
- VAT/TIN registration cost you around 5 to 10 thousand, but GST registration could be obtained for Rs.1,599 (price valid till 30th June, 2017).
Let us read in further detail:
Background
This question is in the mind of every person who is either wants to start his work or he selling on ecommerce and have been asked for GSTIN number.
Currently, we are in migration phase and hence, new TIN number registration or new service tax number registration is not recommended at all, rather either prebook for GST registration or wait till 1st July, when GST registration will start.
Why not TIN/VAT Registration now?
The reason behind our advice is that no TIN or VAT registration will take place in 15 days time. Issuing of registration certificate will take atleast 20 to 30 days time and hence, in that time, VAT law shall lapse and GST will become effective and therefore you should wait for GST registration to come.
What is GST pre-booking?
Till now, the new GST registration is not opened by the government; only provisional GST registrations are taking place.
Hence, we are taking GST pre-booking at a concessional price of only Rs.1,599 and shall provide GST registration once it is opened by the government of India.
What are the documents required for GST registration in India?
Only four documents are required for GST registration from your side:
- Photo of the owner/director/partner/Proprietor
- Proof of registration like registration certificate, trust deed etc – Not applicable in case of proprietorship.
- Electricity bill and NOC from the owner for address on which GST registration is to be taken
- Copy of cancelled cheque with name printed on it.
